Sealing and Shipping of Evidence to GFS
1. First, each item should be individually packaged in:
2. Seal each bag by folding the opening over once or twice, and then putting a piece of tamper-evident tape across the edge, like this:
- Clean brown paper bags, like the kind that you get from the supermarket
- Clean boxes
- Clean envelopes
- Clean plastic bags (this tends to be the least ideal, as it traps moisture, which can lead to the growth of mold or bacteria, which will destroy the evidence; if using, ensure that the evidence is dry, if not, then refrigerate/freeze or repackage at a more opportune time)
2. Seal each bag by folding the opening over once or twice, and then putting a piece of tamper-evident tape across the edge, like this:
Clear packing tape can be used if tamper-evident tape isn't immediately available, but make sure that it's a good brand. "Tamper-evident" means that, if someone tries to open it, it will be apparent.
3. Use a marker to sign and date across the seal. The signature and date should be half on the tape and half on the bag, like this:

This identifies who sealed the evidence, and when.
4. Put the items in a box to ship to:
1021 Old York Road
Suite 202
Abington, PA 19001
Phone: 215-277-1780
Seal the box with more tamper-evident tape or clear packing tape and sign/date it, like before.
5. Ship the items via FedEx or UPS. You can even use the U.S. Postal Service, but select a service option that will have a tracking number.
SUMMARY: You can testify that you sealed the evidence and sent it to GFS, via FedEx, UPS, or USPS, under a certain tracking number. It will arrive at GFS, under that tracking number. The exterior seals will be intact, which means that the contents haven't been compromised. IF the box is violated or compromised in some way, then we have the interior seals as a back-up, and if they are intact, then the integrity of the evidence remains intact.
